Preparing to Migrate Your Mail to Office 365.

First things first, we need to make a backup of your mail to bring into the new Office 365 system. Mail systems do not inherently communicate with each other when you switch between them, so when you change from your webmail to Office 365 or your Gmail over to Office 365, the old servers don’t automatically move your data over. You have to manually save a copy of your data out of some copy of Microsoft Outlook so that it can be later loaded up onto the Office 365 servers.

We need to set up the current email account into some copy of Outlook to properly back it up. Here are setup instructions for most common mail platforms to get the mail into your Outlook to we can proceed with the transition.

Export the Address

Once your mailbox is set up in a recent copy of Microsoft Outlook, it’s time to Export the mailbox to capture all your old messages, contacts, etc. Here are instructions on how to perform that Export procedure to finish the Preparation Phase.
